Members may qualify to take part in the Side Saddle Equitation Championships. Levels at the Show run from beginners through Novice to Intermediate (for adults only) and on to Open - ultimately to compete for the title of Side-Saddle Rider of the Year or Junior Side-Saddle Rider of the Year at the National Show.  (Details in the Members' Handbook, issued each January, and in the National Show Schedule, issued in May).  Download membership form.

Benefits also include:
 

  • Special rosettes and trophies to be won by Members riding side-saddle
  • Sponsored classes - including one-day events and Concours d'Élégance - to be ridden side-saddle
  • Grade Tests and Instructor examinations, with the syllabi in the Members' Handbook (see below)
  • The Members' Handbook, issued in January, includes S.S.A. competition rules, lists of instructors and the Association's Guide to Turnout for qualifying Equitation Classes, Grade Test and Instructor examination syllabi.
  • National Show Schedule
  • Newsletters each year
  • Register of side-saddle items wanted or for sale, for modest fees.
  • Performance Points competition for riding or competing side-saddle in displays and in competition with astride riders.
  • Insurance cover (third party liability) for displays and other events run under the Association's auspices
  • Voting rights at all General Meetings of the Association and of the Member's Area for Life, Full and Associate Members.
